World Book Day:

This World Book Day marks 25 years since it began and this year the message for all children is 'You are a reader!' encouraging all of our young people to read for pleasure.

We're passionate about preparing children to read in their early years and we have some great training courses that can help you inspire the readers and storytellers of tomorrow.

Teaching Phonics - Preparing to Read in Nursery Classes and Preschools

Phonics is a key part of teaching children how to read and write. Our Teaching Phonics training will help improve your knowledge and understanding of teaching phonics and preparing nursery and preschool age children to read.

From this session, you will be able to create an environment and develop activities and approaches that will encourage a love of stories, books and a desire to read.

Closing the Word Gap: Exploring Communication and Language across the Revised Framework for 3-5 year olds

This session will provide an opportunity to explore Communication and Language provision for 3-5 year olds with a focus on closing the word gap. One of the key aims of the proposed changes to the EYFS is to improve outcomes at age 5, particularly in early language and literacy. Children's skills in this area have an impact on their access to other areas of learning as well as their chance to thrive later in life. This session explores a deeper understanding of the word gap and the links to the Revised EYFS Framework.
