Let us do the planning for you with our specially designed computing curriculum

Planning a varied and inspiring computing curriculum can take time and knowledge that your current staff may not have. That’s why we’ve designed a tried and tested curriculum for primary schools, built using Just2Easy (J2e) tools.

Why use our curriculum?

We’ve done the planning for you:  Our detailed and precise planning with clear instructions for teachers will ensure lessons are well-structured and that teachers have all the resources they need to deliver a high-quality computing education.

Boosts staff confidence: Our step-by-step guides provide a clear reference for teachers of all computing abilities, helping them to effectively guide their students. Teachers tell us that this informative and well-structured approach increases their confidence.

Clear progression and knowledge tools: Our progression documents allowing teachers and students to understand their learning journey and present information in an organised manner, helping to demonstrate progression for computing throughout the school.

Each unit of work has:

  • detailed and precise instructions for teachers to follow with accompanying student activity resources to ensure lessons are well-structured and teachers have all the resources needed.
  • knowledge organisers include key learning, vocabulary, career paths and links to previous learning to support students to understand their learning journey.
  • student self-assessment resources promote self-awareness of their strengths and areas for improvement.
  • whole school progression framework allows teachers, subject leads and senior leaders to develop intent and structure the learning journey to support implementation.

A school or Trust can access the Computing Curriculum through a Just2Easy subscription from Capita Entrust, with exclusive access to our computing curriculum. The units of work effectively integrate the award winning J2e tool suite to provide access to age-appropriate software and a cloud-based storage solution for student work that is easily accessed by teachers – great for moderation and progression evidence

The progression framework clearly identifies what students need to know about the current topic to ensure that they are prepared to understand and succeed the next time the topic is revisited in subsequent years.  Learning outcomes are defined to support teachers to check student understanding to inform teaching and make necessary adjustments to planning if objectives have not been met or misunderstood.

How we can help

We are committed to professional development and coaching.  We offer a free J2e CPD webinar each term to our subscribing customers and provide bespoke training, coaching and mentoring packages to individual schools and Trusts tailored to their specific needs and challenges regarding the computing curriculum.

Schools that use our computing curriculum have reported increased confidence in teaching computing due to the informative and well-structured scheme. This boost in confidence translates to more effective teaching and better learning outcomes for students.  Students are learning skills effectively and enjoying the work, which contributes to a more dynamic and interactive learning environment.

“Our decision to adopt the Capita Entrust Computing scheme of work and the Just 2 Easy tool suite has been the best decision we have made as a school due to the impact it has had on the quality of our computing curriculum.  The Computing scheme of work provides a sequenced and well-structured curriculum, alongside the J2e tool suite providing all the software you need to teach it via its online platform. Our staff have further developed the use of this software to go well beyond computing and now use it to also support other areas of the curriculum.”
