What is your team responsible for?

We support ALL areas of SIMS and pride ourselves in encouraging schools to make good use of the software.

How does your team help schools to create better educational outcomes?

SIMS is a powerful Management Information System that enables schools to monitor and track their pupils’ attendance and progress.  Through the use of the Parent App and the SIMS texting/e-mailing program, communication with parents and carers can be immediate.  Good communication has shown to encourage greater support from parents.

We believe our role is to help schools make good use of SIMS, using our expertise to give in-depth information about what it can do for them.  A common comment from schools is ‘we know we don’t use it fully – we don’t really know what it can do’.  It is for us to encourage and show what it can do.  The flexibility of the system allows substantial configuration in various areas.

How many people are in your team and what are their areas of specialism?

There are 15 in the team and we are based across England. Each member of the team has a different specialism so there will always be someone to help you.

We can help you with the below aspects of SIMS:

  • Attendance / Lesson Monitor
  • Timetabling
  • Parent App
  • Behaviour
  • Assessment
  • Exams
  • Key Stage Returns
  • Reporting
  • SEN
  • Interventions
  • Post 16

Describe a typical day for the MIS team

Some of the team will be on the helpdesk supporting schools with any enquiries or challenges they are experiencing. During the last academic year, we dealt with 12,000 calls!  Other members of the team will be involved in delivering training, developing useful resources such as training manuals, testing new procedures within SIMS, or working with schools to get the best from SIMS such as the creation of mark sheets in Assessment or demonstrating a specific area of SIMS.

What is the proudest moment for your team?

Achieving SIMS re-accreditation in 2017. More recently, we were extremely proud to have achieved a 100% buyback from our West Sussex customers for our SIMS Service Level Agreement.  We have built good relationships with those schools through our phone and remote support and hope to build similar relationships across the rest of England.

Tell us something that people may not know about the MIS team

We have never lost a customer due to poor support.  We have lost customers due to academisation and MATs having a preferred supplier, but we have never lost a customer due to dissatisfaction with our service.
